It is very important to understand the different types of health professionals because every professional serves a different function and when we are sick or have a health concern we need to know which type of professional is the correct one to consult. There would be no sense in going to see a dentist for problems with our feet or a general practitioner for a broken bone. Knowing that dentists specialize in teeth, podiatrists specialize in feet, surgeons specialize in injuries and gp's specialize in general health concerns allows us to make the correct choice in who to see when we have a problem.

Different types of health professionals are:

Psychological health: In this, they treat mental illness and improve mental health.

Maternal and newborn health: They take care of children and women during pregnancy and after birth.

Surgeon: They perform surgery of a patient and take care of them during surgery.

Dentist: They take care of the dental cavity and provide treatment of the oral cavity.

Public health care: They mainly focus on improving the health of an individual. They provide treatment against any injury and disease.
