Using any type of heavy machinery such as a car or lawn mower can cause pollution. (As for the second part I’m not sure if you’re asking how the world is affected by pollution or how we can prevent pollution, so I will answer both). The world is damaged by pollution in many ways such as the ozone layer thinning out causing global warming, making the water dirty causing animals to die, etc. We can prevent pollution by converting to biofuel.
