You would not have the support of your parents,any other family members or your close friends at home.

you might have home sickness and would miss your family members which would distract you from work or study.

you might also feel like an outsider, you would feel alone.

if your going to another country, language would be a problem too. 

Iwould say being around others who are not drug free is the wrong step because your peers are likely to influence any new or past habits
