What happened to the world’s population between 1950 and 2000?

I am sure it grew exponentially 

An increase in the world’s population happened between the year 1950 and 2000. This period is the time of the Industrial revolution and wars. After the wars, people are excited to see their families and start living and growing. So, in this period the population rapidly increased.
