I have been struggling with this work about topographic maps. I have added the map and the questions. QUESTION 1

Refer to the following topographic map of the Table Mountain area below.

a) Using the bar/line scale on the map calculate the straight line distance between Llandudno and Claremont in metres. (Hint use the metric unit)

b) Table Mountain is famous for its flat top. Explain how you can tell the top of Table Mountain is relatively flat, using the contour patterns evident on the topographic map below.

c) Sarah has been hiking all day. She reached Orangekloof on Table Mountain and decided she does not want to keep hiking up, but rather, to keep walking around the mountain to Newlands Forest where she parked her car. She wants to figure out how long it will take to walk from Orangekloof to Newlands Forest if she is to walk at 10 minutes per km. Use a piece of string or cotton to help you to calculate the indirect distance Sarah will have to walk from Orangekloof to Newlands Forest. Write your final answer in hours (round down to the nearest 10th if necessary).
d) Use the map to find a spot to set up your zombie apocalypse bunker. Make sure to justify your answer.
