Counseling is a professional and specialized activity aimed at helping people in difficulties of a short-term and long-term nature. In a broader sense, it can also be an applied theoretical discipline, exploring better ways to help people. Experts from several fields (psychologist, social worker, physiotherapist or career counselor) usually cooperate in counseling. The division of counseling and the fields covered by it are not fixed, but there are usually several basic areas that are intertwined and complementary: psychological, pedagogical-psychological, career and special counseling are most often mentioned. Counseling is often free or paid only partially and is most often provided by state institutions or non-profit organizations.
