La. Calculate the wavelength in which maximum intensity of energy is emitted from a snow surface with a temperature of -15°C (2)
1b. Calculate the wavelength in which maximum intensity of energy is emitted from an
asphalt surface with a temperature of 30 °C (2)
lc. Explain the difference in wavelength emission between these two surfaces. (2)
2a. If incoming solar radiation (K1) is 450 W m², reflected solar radiation (K1) is 410 W
mand incoming longwave radiation (LI) is 320 W m?, determine the albedo (a - Kf/
Kl) and total net radiation, Q* (Wm) for the snow surface. Note you will first have to
determine the amount of radiation emitted from the surface (Lf in W m2) using the
Stephan Boltzmann's Law. Then calculate total net radiation as Q* - K*+L*. (5)
2b. If incoming solar radiation (Kl) is 450 W m?, reflected solar radiation (K1) is 42 W
mand incoming longwave radiation (LI) is 320 W m?, determine the albedo (a - Kf/
KI) and total net radiation, Q* (Wm?) for the asphalt surface. Note you will first have
to determine the amount of radiation emitted from the surface (Lf in W m?) using the
Stephan Boltzmann's Law. Then calculate total net radiation as Q* - K* +L* (5)
