rising sea levels melting ice caps

scientists from the committee on global warming met today in dhaka, bangladesh, to discuss the findings of the intergovernmental panel on climate change. in february 2007, the panel reported with 90 percent certainty that people and their activities are likely causing the temperature of the earth to rise. following rigorous study, scientists are still uncertain as to how quickly polar ice caps will melt or how high seas will rise. they are certain, however that even a small increase in sea levels will prove disastrous to the population of bangladesh. scientists report that if a monsoon were to strike, between 60 and 100 million people could be forced to flee the area.
