Advantages and disadvantages of the car industry

Automobiles can increase quality of life through increased mobility, comfort, and safety. The industry also contributes to job creation and skill development. Its numerous forward and backward links bring both direct and indirect employment.
Disadvantages:

They contribute to the depletion of the ozon layer as well as to global warming. They also add to the pollution of densly inhabitated regions by producing noise and as the main factor in the widespread phenomena called 'smog'.
