HELP PLZ Ships traveling from England, across the Atlantic Ocean, to American often took days longer than ships traveling the same distance going from America to Great Britain. Why?

Most likely was because, the waves were either against them or just the British has better ships that go faster and carry more because, they were technically bigger than America at the time
