1. Western medicine (Hippocrates and the idea of "first do no harm") 
2. Drama 
3. Philosophy (Socrates and Plato were the foundation for all Western philosophical thought). 
4. Government. Though the Greeks had kings and slaves, they created the concepts and initial practice of democracy, politics (a greek root word based on "poli" or people). The concept of a Republic comes from the Greeks. 
5. Much of initial architecture is derived from the Greeks. 
6. The epic poems 'The Illiad" and "The Odyssey" have influenced Western Literature since. Why the film..."Where Art Thou Brother" is basically an updated version of "The Odyssey."Greece is known as the birthplace of western civilization.
