California is a state that is located along the Pacific coastline. This is one of the most developed states and also one of the most populous ones. It has a thriving economy, but it also is one of the biggest polluters and usurpers of natural resources in the country.

California though, unlike many other states in the US, has great potential when it comes to the production of clean energy and significant reduction of pollution without having any major negative economic impact. This is due to the location of the state, its geographical characteristics, and climate. The amount of sunlight that is received throughout the year, as well as its high intensity, can easily be used for large scale production of energy. Also, there are numerous rivers coming down from the Sierra Nevada Mt., and while they are not particularly big, they have a lot of velocity in their upper flows, which can also be easily used for the production of energy, having large reserves of water for the dry season, and production of aquatic food.

The slopes of the mountains tend to be relatively windy, so harvesting wind energy is also an option, as well as harvesting energy from the ocean considering the long coastline. Something else that can be used instead of ending up as waste is the huge amount of food that is thrown away. It can be collected and used for fertilizing the soil in the large plantations of the state, which will mean smaller usage of artificial fertilizers. If such technologies and methods are implemented, the state will produce more than enough for its needs, while also being much more economically friendly, and having no real negative economic impact.
