An earthquake that measures a 7.0 on the Richter scale will be roughly 10,000 times greater than one that measures a 3.0, in accordance with the math behind the Richter scale.

The Richter scale is a scale designed by Charles Richter many years ago. This scale is used to measure the local magnitude of earthquakes using a logarithmic model.
