After the countries of Central America gained independence, instead of prospering as the people wanted to, the countries were in terrible condition. The economies of the Central American countries were in a very bad place, with the industry being on a very low level, a lot of facilities being destroyed, and the main sector being agriculture.

Two major reasons for such bad economic conditions were the military governments and civil wars. Both led to large scale violence, destruction, and focus on gaining power by all means instead of progress. It has to be said that the sponsorship of military dictators of the USA (because of their geopolitical interests) also played a big role, as they had more weapons available, finances, and military commandos.

south africa, or rather all of africa, has not been in the location in which it is nowadays throughout the geological past. after the super-continent pangaea started to break apart, gondwanaland, in which was africa, moved further south, and parts of it came to be very close to the south pole. because the climate in this part of the world is very cold due to the very dispersed sun rays in there, what is now south africa, started to freeze, and the conditions were right for the formation of glaciers. the glaciers existed up until the period when gondwanaland started to break apart and what is now africa started to move towards north, sp it warmed up and the glaciers melted.
