Dear President,

I am writing this letter to you to tell you that the United States should at least consider protecting the rainforest. Here's why. First, the rainforests are the ONLY home to many animals because of the climate and conditions. If we allow people to start destroying these rainforests, tons of animals will become endangered and have no place to go. Second, think of the Amazon jungle for example. The Amazon jungle alone provides the 20% of the world's oxygen. This is because plants intake the carbon dioxide that humans breathe out, and emit oxygen, which humans need to be able to thrive. If we don't protect the rainforests, there will be an abundance of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Lastly, rainforests can provide many things for us, not including oxygen. Some of the plants could be used for medical purposes. Rainforests also keep the Earth's climate. If we don't protect them, the climate, along with the water cycle, could be affected. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I think it would be a very good thing to consider.

Scientists are concerned that cutting down these trees could lead to global warming. Finally, the rainforest is home to about half a million people who depend on it to survive.
