The scientific method is the process by which science is carried out. Areas of knowledge like Observation and Experimentation develop a better understanding of the field of study over the period of time.

In the observation method, Primary data can be collected it can be used to study sales technique or customer behavior. It has a low cost and fast data collection.  

Experiment method: Review literature of past, it can natural, field and lab controlled. Uses statistical tools and techniques to analyze data on a quantitative base.
