Why do geologists think earth's core contains mostly iron answers com?

There's two main reasons why geologists think that the Earth's core is made out of iron:

1. The seismic waves that travel through the core are moving at a velocity that depends on the properties of the material the waves travel through, and the best fit in this case is the Iron (Fe).
2. The iron is the most abundant metal in the universe.
