If the water is diverted to the canal there could be large floodings causing people's homes and animal habitats to be destroyed as well as causing crops and trees to die from having very little water and then getting to an amount that is hard to survive from. They will be forced to move and they may intrude with other communities and other animals making it all a big problem!
