Explanation:

The suitors had taken over the palace since they had realized that it was unlikely that Odysseus was ever going to return to the palace. They would be able to court Penelope and force her hand in marriage to one of them. While they are at the palace they help themselves to the food and resources at the palace, while Telemachus looks on, helpless. They are ill-tempered and have even planned to kill Telemachus. In fact, Antinous is likely the only one that would be able to murder Telemachus in cold blood. However, if all the suitors were bad, Antinous is pure evil. He was not only the one who first proposed killing Telemachus. Antinous is also the one that attacks a beggar asking for accommodation (really Odysseus in disguise) by throwing a chair at him.  This is a clear violation of something that was very important in ancient Greece, hubris as well as Xenia or hospitality.
