So, after reading this (whole) little poem, the following question will be answered.

Question #1

What word or phrase stands out in the poem? Provide an example of precise language the author uses. (A strong adjective or verb that is used.)

The word that stands out to me was the word "tatters".  The part that the author used in the poem of this word was the first stanza which is the following : O wind, rend open the heat,
cut apart the heat,
rend it to tatters."

So, in this poem, it is described as being torn, or pieced apart from the passage. So, just imagine a shirt, you can say " the shirt is tatter". This would mean that the shirt is in ruin.

Another example: Do you know what is "tatter tots"? Tatter tots are a piece of food that are pieces of deep-fried, grated potatoes served as a side dish which are in a sense, (tattered).

So, in this case, it is this word was the word that stuck out to me in this poem.

Explain how the word(s) you selected in the above Language section create a vivid picture/image for the reader. Which sense(s) does the word appeal for the reader?

The word tatter means to be scattered and destroyed. So, in this case, when the author wrote : "O wind, rend open the heat,
cut apart the heat,
rend it to tatters."

This explained how the wind was perhaps scattered and crazy and just acting very rough.

So in this sense, this reader was perhaps seeing this as a storm, or a depressed feel of the story. Something like not feeling in a good mood, perhaps even a bad day.

Question #3

Consider the words the poet has used. What mood or emotion do the words evoke for the reader? Provide evidence from the poem to support your ideas.

I believe that the mood would be most likely depressed in this case. As when the first stanza brought out, "cut apart the heat,
rend it to tatters."

So, in this stanza, it does seem like it is not a great mood, but NOT that upset of a mood. It seem's more depressed.
