Why It can't be A - no where in the whole passage (that i read a t least) did it say anything about his hope for the future so that is irrelevant rendering it useless to us and we mark it out

Why it can't be C - It can't be C because it doesn't talk about his purpose what-so-ever and it really never mentioned that he was even single minded

Why it can't be D - Even though all these are mentioning animals they are just similes i do believe (comparing something without using like or as) they are just comparing his lair to all of those things not that he is animal-like in any way

Why is it B? - well all the things mentioned if you noticed are really dark isolated places; closed off places like an ants tunnel pr a bee's hive, and it's repetitive use of the word "iron" like its really hard so the fact that this would be talking about isolation makes alot of sense
