The following question refers to “the pit and the pendulum” by edgar allan poe. when the narrator awakes to find himself on his back with no restraints on him, why is he afraid to open his eyes?
he hears people in the room, and he does not want them to know that he is awakehe cannot see anything without his prescription glasses. he is crying and cannot bear to open his eyes and look at his surroundings. he fears that he will open his eyes and see nothing but darkness
