Society is always taken by surprise at any new example of common sense

This is sadly true and often can be seen at major turning points in history where dfferent political sides are advocating for a certain course of action, then in some cases in history, a new stream of thought comes from a certain group that perhaps encompasses most common sense from all the available groups, and this comes as a surprise to society.
