There's a sentence and I'm gonna use that as an example. "Let's eat children!", Grandpa said. That sounds really weird and is also literally the definition of cannibalism. But besides that point, if you add a comma between eat and children, it makes more sense. "Let's eat, children!" Grandpa said. The comma is also like a pause. So you would usually pause for a second or two then say the next word.
