Use your knowledge of how language changes and the factors that contribute to that change. What new inventions will change what we talk about? What new slang terms will arise, and what of today's slang will become idioms?
Here is your goal for this lesson:
Predict future language change based on comprehension of the processes of language change
Be creative! Type a short paper (at least 200 words) giving your ideas about the future developments which may occur in our language as a result of unknown influences and events. Use your imagination to create a picture of a changing world as reflected by the technical, regional, slang, or other specialized languages you invent.
You will be graded on the following criteria:
Use the methods of language change and appropriate motivating factors for that change as a basis for your argument.
Make sure each paragraph contains one main idea and support. Use complete sentences including compound and complex sentences.
Include an introductory paragraph, proper transitions, and a conclusion.
Make sure your paper contains no errors in conventions such as spelling and grammar errors and is at least 200 words long.
