PLS HELP. NO SCAM. NO LINKS. Read the passage.
Some people say the United States government should stop minting the penny because the zinc used to produce it costs more than the value of the coin. However, zinc is only one small portion of the federal budget for manufacturing coins. That budget covers the cost of employee salaries, maintaining equipment and buildings, producing coins, and distributing coins to banks. These costs will not change regardless of which particular coins the government produces. Also, the lack of pennies in circulation will result in an increased need for nickels. The five-cent coin contains copper and nickel, both of which are more expensive than zinc.

Which statement BEST describes the central idea of the passage?
A. Using zinc to make nickels could save the government money.
B. The federal budget for coin production is too small to cover the cost of materials.
C. The price of zinc is a minor consideration in the overall budget for penny production.
D. Increasing the production of pennies would allow the government to stop producing nickels.
