Select a poem in any anthology or textbook. 1. List the author's name and the title of the poem.

2. Type the first four lines, leaving space between each line.

3. Print out the document or have your teacher print it out.

4. Scan the lines of the poem remembering to mark accented syllables with an accent mark (') and unaccented syllables with a breve (U).

5. Identify the meter and line length (you may refer to examples in the text.)

6. Submit the completed assignment for grading.
