The End of the Semester Time has passed (1) very quickly during (2) these six weeks of summer school. (3) I still remember my
anxiety the (4) first day I attended class. Since this was going to be (5) my first semester (6) in an American
college and knowing that all my (7) classmates knew more than 1, I was very (8) nervous (9) about attending my
first (10) writing class. When my teacher told (11) us that we would have to write (12) two pages in our journal
every week, I was (13) terrified, for I had (14) never been in an English writing class before and my command
of the language was limited. (15) After three weeks of classes, I decided to visit my teacher in (16) her office
(17) and try to explain my situation. I told her (18) that I wanted to give up the class and wait (19) another
semester to perfect my writing before taking any more classes. (20) She told me not to worry and (21)
encouraged me to stay in the class if I really wanted to write English (22) well. It is now the end of the
semester and I am glad that I (23) took my (24) teacher's advice. My writing has improved, and I am more
confident than I was before. I (25) still have problems, but now I know that I will do well as long as I
persevere.
