HELP CHAPTER 2 ANIMAL FARM "But at this moment the three cows, who had seemed uneasy for some time past, set up a loud lowing. They had not been milked for twenty-four hours, and their udders were
almost bursting. After a little thought, the pigs sent for buckets and milked the cows fairly
successfully, their trotters being well adapted to this task. Soon there were five buckets of
frothing creamy milk at which many of the animals looked with considerable interest.
'What is going to happen to all that milk?' said someone.
Jones used sometimes to mix some of it in our mash,' said one of the hens.
"Never mind the milk, comrades!' cried Napoleon, placing himself in front of the buckets.
'That will be attended to. The harvest is more important. Comrade Snowball will lead the
way. I shall follow in a few minutes. Forward, comrades! The hay is waiting.'
So the animals trooped down to the hayfield to begin the harvest, and when they came
back in the evening it was noticed that the milk had disappeared."

Read this excerpt from through the looking-glass by lewis carroll. "you might make a joke on that,โ€ said the little voice close to her ear: "something about โ€˜you would if you could,โ€™ you know.โ€ "don't tease so,โ€ said alice, looking about in vain to see where the voice came from; "if you're so anxious to have a joke made, why don't you make one yourself? โ€ the little voice sighed deeply: it was very unhappy, evidently, and alice would have said something pitying to comfort it, "if it would only sigh like other people! โ€ she thought. but this was such a wonderfully small sigh, that she wouldn't have heard it at all, if it hadn't come quite close to her ear. the consequence of this was that it tickled her ear very much, and quite took off her thoughts from the unhappiness of the poor little creature. what question should a reader ask to clarify what is happening in the story? who or what is the voice speaking to alice? when will alice attempt to share a joke? what secret will alice share with the new character? why do whispers tickle the listener?
