In a sentence or phrase, prepositions are often used in front of nouns and pronouns, to show a relationship between the pronouns and nouns, and other words in the sentence. Prepositions can describe in deeper detail the nouns and pronouns, for example instead of " The girl ran to the tree ", you could use prepositions and make it " The little girl ran to the tall, knotted tree. " Little, tall, and knotted are all prepostions.
