The next changes came about with the introduction of high-wheeled bicycles in the late Victorian period. These were

handlebars.
Although bikes have not changed design for many years now, today's versions are without doubt faster, lighter and more
reliable than those of the past. Indeed, it is obvious to all that cycling is presently going through a golden age. The
conjunction of new materials and advanced manufacturing methods should bring about additional technological
advances; furthermore, as the price of bikes goes down, the chance to own and enjoy a 'conveyance' will be available to
more people than ever before.
