Directions

Do an in-depth analysis of the page and its panel, focusing on both the text, image, and how they interact with each other. First, take notes over what you see. Then, write an analytical paragraph, which addresses the following:

Analyze the text. The text in a graphic novel has to be concise, thus each word is chosen very carefully. What is the significance of the words? Is any of the text in bold? Who is saying it? To whom is it being said? In your own words, what does it mean?

Analyze the picture. What is the focal point? What direction do your eyes travel on the page? What small details do you see? Is shading/coloring significant? Are there any parts you missed the first time you looked at it?
