It’s often debated that Christina Gutierrez might not have done the best job defending Adnan’s innocence and Adnan was falsely convicted and should not be serving this prison sentence. But some of you might not be convinced of his innocence and feel that the jury was correct in finding him guilty. Decide where you stand and pretend you are either the Prosecutor (Adnan is guilty) or the Defense Attorney (Adnan is innocent). Write a closing statement for the jury to hear before they determine Adnan’s fate. Pick at least THREE pieces of solid evidence from the case to discuss. Be sure to engage the jury with your best rhetorical strategies and develop a clear line of reasoning that is convincing for the jury.
