Now that students have read some of "The House on Mango Street," they will notice some of the repeated themes that run throughout the book. These themes are: language/names, gender/sexuality, and foreignness/society. All humans can relate to and understand these themes. Students need to choose a "chapter" that we have already read and explain how that "chapter" connects to one of the already mentioned themes. This writing is practice for the final summative project which will be on "The House on Mango Street."
