Romeo and Juliet Act 3 scene 3 questions 1) In his monologue, why does Romeo appear to be envious of flies?

A. Do you think that older people often have trouble understanding younger people? Why or why not?
B. Do you think that younger people often have trouble understanding older people? Why or why not?
4) In line 108, the stage directions indicate that Romeo has drawn his dagger. Why does he do this?
5) At the end of of the scene, both Friar Lawrence and the Nurse tell Romeo he is acting like a woman for being sad and emotional. Do you think that is fair for them to say this? In this time period, why might people have had different beliefs about woman?
6) In line 146-158, Friar Lawrence lays out a plan for Romeo. What does this plan involve?
7) If Friar Lawrence’s plan were to work out, the play would probably have a happy ending. However, we know that this is a tragedy. Make a prediction as to what you think might go wrong.
