Reading is important because it develops the mind. The mind is a muscle. It needs exercise. Understanding the written word is one way the mind grows in its ability. I understand the number of hours in a day are limited, however, I must urge you to find time in your day to read a literary work. Amidst the chaos of life, a book can be a great way to temporarily escape. Reading provides neural stimulation, and expands your vocabulary. The only negative effect of reading is you may lose a sense of time, as you find yourself deeply engrossed in the novel. I hope you consider my suggestion, and set aside time to read.
