The big fight at the beginning of act 1, Scene 1 reveals that ancient grudges can go a long way and lead to many things. The feud between the Capulet and Montague households is expanded between their servants. This is because the grudges held between people can become a strong hatred which is why it forces them to engage in fighting. I can relate this to society now because even today people are very violent towards each other and mostly due to family or friends grudges.
