well it is both, its all on your perspective. on the one hand, the poor fool who bought the painting lost 1.4 million dollars, so in his eyes it was vandalism. However it was also art because first of all his art was his so he had a right to destroy it. and he also destroyed it in a way that was spectacular and beautiful, and tragic. and now all of the sudden its a new art piece, this one sadder.

The urge for destruction is also a creative urge! The passion to create is the same driving emotion as the passion to destroy, but the passion to create is infinitely stronger. To destroy something one must come up with ways and ideas to do so which i think also invokes creativity in ones self. This is how i agree that the urge destroy is a creative urge indeed, although the destruction might not be quite appealing.
