2. After you have examined all the primary source documents in the PDF file above, you must select three documents to support your answer to the focus question. All three documents that you choose MUST support your answer to the focus question: Is college worth it?

3. You will write an ACES paragraph for each of the 3 documents you selected to support your answer to the focus question. Within each paragraph, you will cite evidence from just ONE of the 3 documents you selected. You do not have to submit anything else, just submit your 3 ACES paragraphs.

4. Please make sure to follow the ACES paragraph formula below to receive the highest points possible for your ACES paragraphs. Additionally, make sure to look at the rubric attached to understand how points will be distributed.

Follow the ACES Paragraph format below to receive FULL CREDIT (Remember-You will write 3 ACES paragraphs for this assessment):

A-Answer the focus question in the first sentence of your paragraph.

C-In your second sentence, cite evidence from a historical document to support your answer. Make sure to put parentheses at the end of your sentence stating which document the evidence was found--this is how you cite evidence.

E-Write two more sentences explaining or elaborating on your cited evidence and telling me more about the topic.

S-The very last sentence is your conclusion sentence--summarize the main point of your paragraph.

When i was young enough to still spend a long time buttoning my shoes in the morning, i'd listen toward the hall: daddy upstairs was shaving, in the bathroom, and mother downstairs was frying the bacon. they would begin whispering back and forth to each other up and down the stairwell. my father would whistle his phrase, my mother would try to whistle, then hum hers backi drew my buttonhook in and out and listened to it -know it was "the merry widow." the difference was, their song almost floated with laughter. how different from the record, which growled from the beginning, as if the victrola were only slowly being wound up. they kept it running between them, up and down the stairs where i was now just about ready to run clattering down and show them my shoes. what is the effect of the parallelism used in the above excerpt? it establishes the rhythm of a duet to echo the song. it expresses the same ideas. it mirrors opposite ideas. it is a paradox.
