PLEASE HELP ME Read the passage
Kao concentrated on the painting in front of her and the feel of the brush in her fingers. Her strokes were smooth and swift. The color
flowed onto the paper, guided by her hand and yet somehow shaping itself.
Kao had learned and practiced many watercolor techniques, but she was not consciously planning now what to do next. She was in
harmony with the painting, which appeared before her as she worked, as if by magic.
The techniques she learned were different, she knew, from the ancient ways her grandfather had known. The family told of his years of
training and the fine works he had done in the old country. Her family loved Kao's paintings. They belleved that her grandfather's talent Ilved again
in Kao's hands.
Sometimes Kao thought so too. She could never explain why she painted what she did. When Ms. Rosen, her art teacher at school, asked
questions about her work, Kao would feel confused and uncertain. Yet she learned from these painful discussions, and she would often go home
and try new things that Ms. Rosen suggested.
Now she was almost finished with the painting. The rosy glow she could see in the sunset sky was there on the paper too. The crooked, bare
branches of the old maple tree were there in the foreground, and the mounded shapes of the rolling hills dark against the sunset. The tricklest part
of the painting she thought, is deciding where to stop.
