One day, Marjane hears that a bomb has landed in her neighborhood and runs home, worried that her family has been killed. On her street, she sees her mother and learns that everyone in her family is safe—the bomb fell on Neda’s house. Marjane’s mom thinks that no one was home, but as they walk past the rubble, Marjane sees one of Neda’s bracelets. It’s still attached to something, and the sight makes her gasp.
