People often say "It's better to give than to receive," especially around
gift-giving time. I never used to believe this, but now that I'm a big
sister, I am starting to understand what that saying really means. As a
little kid, I loved receiving presents for my birthday or other holiday
celebrations. Some of my favorite gifts include my stuffed giraffe, an
engraved bracelet, and a handmade journal. The most interesting gift!
ever received was a pet rock named Herbert. As I have gotten older, I
have learned to appreciate the chance to give a gift to someone else.
And when my little sister's fifth birthday came around, I truly
understood the power of giving.
