Prose or verse?
Through the forest have I gone.
But Athenian found I none,
On whose eyes I might approve
This flower's force in stirring love.
Night and silence..Who is here?
Weeds of Athens he doth wear:
This is he, my master said,
Despised the Athenian maid;

On the dank and dirty ground.
Pretty soul! she durst not lie

All the power this charm doth owe.
When thou wakest, let love forbid
Sleep his seat on thy eyelid:
So awake when I am gone;
For I must now to Oberon

Read the excerpt from βto one in paradise,β by edgar allan poe. thou wast all that to me, love . . a fountain and a shrine, all wreathed with fairy fruits and flowers, and all the flowers were mine. how does poe use a sound device in the excerpt? he uses assonance to connect the images of architecture. he uses alliteration to draw attention to the images of his love. he uses cacophony to create a discordant sound of loss. he uses internal rhyme to enhance the rhythm of his lyrical poem.
