Soldiers themselves, world leaders, and the general population of other countries expressed shock at the degree of abuse inflicted on the Jews and other minorities after the war ended. This press release makes it clear that reports came in early, so what do you think contributed to the shock? Why was the discovery so difficult when reports were already enough to put together a panel to prosecute war criminals?
