Jacques is a man of his time.He is attractive and knows about it.He uses his attraction to get the girls he wants but seems not ready to make any commitments until he sees Berthe.He is romantic after all and in the presence of his beloved he is unable to utter a world.In this sense ,he is sweet and and appears to enjoy looking at the one he loves , adoring her rather than telling her  foolish words that would ruin the moment when they are together.

He is responsible with the obligation that arises .He is honourable and even though he risks losing his love, he tells the truth about his child.He is brave and decent.

i think that the quotes in paragraph 11 contribute to the development of ideas because it provides a good reasoning of the central idea of the text.
