What happens to the tension after the climax of a story

Rising actions builds throughout the story up to the climax, after the climax the plot is called falling action. The climax doesn't necessarily end all the tension of a story though, it is up to the author on how they want the story to finish but after the climax it'll usually direct the rest of the into the conclusion.
