The three images that come to my mind are the coldness of winter, the loneliness of the sea or ocean and the uncertainty of the changes of weather. Based on the translated version of this Anglo-Saxon poem, the narrator had described what he sees and felt about traveling the seas. They were in the middle of winter. Thus the temperature is lower than the temperature on land. In his watch, the sea looks very lonely, especially at night. He doesn't have anyone to talk, considering that they take turns to watch the ship. And lastly the weather's constant changes. He feels this one because he is not sure of how the weather will be on the next day.

There are many examples of weather in the poem. The first example describes the sea and harsh weather conditions:

The poem tells

How the sea took me, swept me back

And then the protagonist describes the behavior of the storms:

It tells

Of smashing surf when I sweated in the cold

Of an anxious watch, perched in the bow

As it dashed under cliffs.

Then he describes the weather in winter:

My feet were cast

By this way, the character shows how the weather gets worse over the time.
