When writing a paper, having a strong thesis statement is crucial. if the thesis statement is weak, the writer will have a hard time providing support for an argument. identify each of these thesis statements as either "strong and unique" or "weak."

Strong and unique: The use of solar energy can affect foreign  policy by decrease oil imports and The federal government should spend  at least 15 percent of its budget on   developing renewable energy sources. Weak: There are many limits on free speech and Too much dependence on technology  is bad for people.

Explanation: A strong thesis must be about a specific subject, and it must have its limits clear, if the thesis is too general, it will be very difficult to use it as a base of a work. The option A and C represent examples of weak thesis because the first one is just a simple affirmation with little chance of argument, and the third one is too general, it doesn't say in which way technology is bad or who is the population of the study. The second and fourth option are strong thesis because they are about specific subjects that can be argued to prove them right or wrong.

on the other side of the picture, we must learn also to know that guerilla warfare against the germans in, let us say serbia or norway, us; that a successful russian offensive against the germans us; and that british successes on land or sea in any part of the world strengthen our hands.

remember always that germany and italy, regardless of any formal declaration of war, consider themselves at war with the united states at this moment just as much as they consider themselves at war with britain or russia. and germany puts all the other republics of the americas into the same category of enemies. the people of our sister republics of this hemisphere can be honored by that fact.  

the true goal we seek is far above and beyond the ugly field of battle. when we resort to force, as now we must, we are determined that this force shall be directed toward ultimate good as well as against immediate evil. we americans are not destroyers — we are builders.
