Writing a narrative about overcoming a challenge

Some people like to start telling the story simply by writing everything that comes to mind. I regard this valid process as discovery, not as a construction process.

I particularly like to start with questions. That's how I do it in mentoring processes, where I start with Message Mapping for the narrative, asking the mentor things like:

Motivations: What moves you to do this project? And what would move your audience to connect with your project?

Challenges: What challenges do you need to overcome with your project? And what public challenges does your project help to overcome?

Impacts: Where do you see your project can lead you and your audience? And if it gets there, what impacts can it have on the world?

But if I could sum it all up in one question that I believe can already lead you to the answers of all the others, it would be: What justifies your narrative?

This is not the event you were invited to speak for, nor the meeting that was scheduled to take place every month, let alone the explanation you now need to give about your product on the site.

Thinking about the justification of the narrative leads you to think about why.
