Body language during a presentation is very important. Slouching at the podium gives the presentation a more relaxed feel, which is not effective. The relaxed feeling makes it seem as though the presenter does not feel he is presenting something worth listening to. Pacing in front of an audience is also not effective. It makes the presenter seem nervous and exhausts the audience because they constantly have to turn their heads back and forth to stay focused on the speaker. Body language is also not meant to entertain or amuse the audience. If it does, it is distracting the audience from the speaker's purpose. Effective body language helps to further the purpose of the presentation and help communicate enthusiasm for the topic.
